Wear Your Voice

By: Amanda Morrissey

In September 2015, I started walking strangely. Just the odd stumble, like I was trying to walk upright on a boat. I went to a doctor who said, after a 5-minute consultation, I had an aftereffect of a virus. I walked out to my car and burst into tears. I knew something was wrong, but if a doctor wasn’t concerned by it, I probably shouldn’t be. So I pushed it away from my mind.

After a few weeks my symptoms had progressed to stumbling around like I was drunk. I also started having bone and joint pain, and a tremor on my right side. I kept feeling exhausted all the time so my husband convinced me to see another doctor. Immediately, she noticed that something was very wrong and thought I had Guillain-Barré syndrome, so I was referred to a neurologist.

By December, my symptoms were so bad I went back to the doctor and she told me to go to the emergency room. What I remember the most was the smell: a mix of bleach and disinfectant. Now when I smell that, I remember that exact moment and how terrified and alone I felt. I had blood tests, a lumbar puncture, and an MRI done, which sounds like your inside a transformer... while it’s transforming.

In January I was diagnosed with Paraneoplastic, which is an autoimmune disease where the body creates an antibody to fight cancer but the antibody gets confused and attacks healthy cells. There are about 30 different types. In my case, I have Paraneoplastic Cerebellar Degeneration. The cerebellum handles speech, walking, balance, coordination, fine movement and now, researchers think it also handles emotional response.

When you become chronically ill or disabled it turns your entire life upside down and I fell into a deep depression for three years. Being sick became my main identifier because my days were spent getting chemotherapy or Intravenous immunoglobulin, IVIG, in bed because I couldn’t move. With my diagnosis, it is common to get cancer, so I wasn’t surprised when I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

I isolated myself from my friends and family because I’m very self-conscious about my symptoms, mainly because I have difficulty with my speech. I slur my words and I’m very monotonous. Also fatigue and tremor makes socializing difficult. On average a healthy person has around 10 usable hours a day, on a good day I have about 3, then it’s like a light gets turned off.

For three years I struggled and had difficulty coping with my new normal, while I grieved the life I had. I’ve since learned a new way to cope, a healthier way, after therapy, medication, and time. I cope by focusing on something I’m passionate about and which gives me a new purpose. When my husband and I decided to move from the Netherlands to Scotland, because of a looming Brexit, I had to return my government sponsored custom wheelchair and smart drive. So I founded a t-shirts and apparel company called Panda Tees to raise money for an electric wheelchair. My favorite designs, since it’s breast cancer awareness month, is simply called "Boobs." It shows breasts in many forms, from lop sided breast to mastectomy scars. The other is a slogan that says “I’m feeling okay-ish” to normalize feeling okay-ish instead of always putting on a brave face.

After I reach my personal fundraiser goal, I want to continue on and donate a percentage to Eurordis, a non-profit for rare disease awareness and advocacy, which is a subject that is very close to my heart since I have one. I really want to make a difference in people’s lives, I want to support and empower the chronically ill, POC, LGBTQIA+, anyone with disabilities, women and any groups, who are made to feel like they do not belong, or feel like they aren’t important.

My advice is wear your voice and make a difference

I never imagined I’d be the kind of person who would fall victim to a cryptocurrency scam I considered myself relatively tech-savvy I had been trading for over a year studied the basics of blockchain and used two-factor authentication on all my wallets But as I learned the hard way sometimes even caution isn’t enough My ordeal began when I came across what seemed like a legitimate investment opportunity on a social media platform The operation looked professional There was a well-designed website regular posts and what appeared to be a thriving community of investors I was initially skeptical so I started small Over time their communication and “returns” built my confidence Eventually I invested more—$240,000 worth of Ethereum and USDT across multiple transactions It wasn’t until I tried to withdraw some profits that things unraveled Suddenly all communication stopped The site went offline My wallet showed transfers to unknown addresses I never authorized The shock hit hard I felt angry at myself—ashamed even I contacted my bank and local authorities but there wasn’t much they could do since it involved decentralized crypto assets I filed a police report but I knew the chances of recovery were slim After a few days of emotional numbness and frantic research I began looking into cyber forensic services That’s when I heard about Bytephantom Cyber Recovery not from an ad or flashy promotion but through a community forum where others shared their experiences What caught my attention was the way people described the process slow methodical and based on actual evidence not empty promises Reaching out to Bytephantom was a leap of faith but at that point I had little to lose What stood out from the beginning was that they didn’t guarantee success They explained the technical complexity of tracing crypto assets through blockchain forensics the time it might take and what information I needed to provide wallet addresses transaction hashes correspondence with the scammers It wasn’t some automated fix—it was a real investigative process The next few weeks were emotionally taxing I had to relive the experience through emails and screenshots and answer a lot of questions from the team There were long periods of silence which tested my patience But every so often they would give me an update a lead they were following or a wallet they had traced movement to It was slow progress but it was real About two months in they informed me they had identified a chain of wallets linked to the scam Through collaboration with other cases and partnerships with certain crypto compliance organizations they managed to put a temporary freeze on a centralized exchange account holding part of the stolen funds After providing additional documentation and going through some verification steps I was shocked when I finally received a partial recovery nearly $150,000 Over the next few weeks they were able to assist with further recovery from smaller wallets that had previously seemed unreachable In total I recovered approximately $215,000 Not the full amount but far more than I ever expected Looking back I still carry the weight of the mistake But I also carry a lesson—on caution on the sophistication of online scams and on the reality of what recovery looks like Bytephantom didn’t wave a magic wand What they offered was transparency technical skill and steady support during a deeply stressful period in my life I share this not as an endorsement but as a testimony to the fact that even in a largely unregulated space like crypto there are still ways forward if you’re willing to be patient and work with the right people My case wasn’t easy and the result wasn’t perfect—but it was honest and it gave me a second chance I didn’t think I’d have

ASSET STUCK? DIGITAL TECH GUARD RECOVERY HAS THE SOLUTION

I recently explored Forexltc, a North Dakota-based cryptocurrency platform, after an agent contacted me, touting its potential for substantial growth in the crypto trading market. Intrigued by their compelling pitch and several persuasive follow-up calls, I decided to invest, committing $213,000 in cryptocurrency, confident it would enhance my digital portfolio. Unfortunately, my optimism quickly faded as I encountered persistent trading losses, leading to significant financial strain. Hoping to reverse my fortunes, I invested an additional $9,000 a few weeks later, but the losses continued, deepening my frustration and regret over choosing Forexltc. Just when I felt trapped, a new account manager, referred to as the “fourth account manager,” offered a ray of hope. Their apparent market expertise led to some profitable trades, briefly restoring my confidence. However, this relief was short-lived when I was abruptly locked out of my account, unable to access my funds or trading portfolio. My attempts to contact Fxleader’s support team were met with silence, leaving me feeling helpless and in the dark about my investments. Desperate, I sought external help and discovered Digital Tech Guard Recovery, a service specializing in financial recovery. Their team was responsive and diligent, guiding me through the recovery process with expertise. One Friday morning, they requested my Bitcoin address to transfer my recovered cryptocurrency. Thanks to their efforts, I successfully retrieved my entire investment, bringing immense relief.
